The city owns more property than you might think, and that does include the occasional vacant house.
Two city-owned houses, one in Willowbrook and one in Chesterfield Square, are slated to be sold.
I'm really hoping they sell to people who need homes and not some developer with friends in City Hall. (Especially 5510 S. Manhattan Place, a cute 1926 bungalow on a lovely block of classic bungalows.)

UPDATE 10/18: A special meeting on 10/20 concerns the possible sale of 5510 S. Manhattan Place and 1243 Blakley Avenue to Wicks Investments for $725,000. Damn it.
