ONE DAY after posting about FOUR empty buildings burning in the space of just ten days, 6401 Camellia Avenue burned in broad daylight.
According to KTLA, "First crews on scene found a fire outside the property that had spread to the adjacent home and began burning through the house’s attic." The article specifies that the house was vacant.
The house has a lengthy history of code enforcement complaints. The latest, dated TODAY, is for "vacant lot with trash and debris".
So, an outdoor fire, possibly fueled by trash, spread to the house. (Or is the "trash and debris" what was left after the fire? LADBS doesn't specify.)
Property records indicate the house sold in 2018, then sold again on May 6, 2024. Before the house even sold, there was a pre-inspection submitted for its demolition.
Corrections to the demolition permit application were issued just yesterday. (To be clear, a permit has not YET been approved.)
I don't even know what to say about all these fires anymore. I just know that it's sickening to constantly see my hometown going up in flames.
