Some time ago, while pondering the future of the Boyle Heights Sears, I lamented the prolonged empty state of its younger sister in Santa Monica.

Yesterday, the Hollywood Horror Museum announced that they were in the Hollywood Reporter - announcing the opening of their other museum, Sci-Fi World: The Experience.

Guess where? That's right - the former Sears! It's even in the Museum's FAQ.

As an adaptive reuse fan, fourth generation Santa Monica resident, and nerd, I was elated to read that. The Santa Monica Sears - where three generations of my family shopped - has officially graduated from the Empty Los Angeles map.

Congrats and best of luck to Sci-Fi World: The Experience on their upcoming opening, set for May 27.

302 Colorado Avenue, Santa Monica.
